Tutoring Class
During the COVID-19 pandemic, repeated school suspensions and the shift to online learning caused many upper primary and junior secondary students to fall behind academically. As most families served by the Centre are from grassroots backgrounds with limited resources, they could not afford private tutoring, and parents often faced difficulties in guiding their children’s studies due to their own educational constraints.
To address this, the Centre launched an academic support service in January 2021. The team of tutors primarily consists of the elder siblings of our alumni. As university graduates or current undergraduates, they possess not only the academic qualifications but also the unique ability to connect with our students and tailor teaching methods to their specific levels. From April 2024 to March 2025, the Centre provided weekly one-hour individual tutoring to 47 students, conducting a total of 955 sessions.
Through continuous support, students have shown significant academic improvement. Several students achieved outstanding examination results and were successfully admitted to Band 1 schools. These achievements have helped students regain their confidence in learning and earned recognition from their school teachers.
